_Underscore {…}

This really is an example of a WordPress page for me. I like the idea of blogging, it seems to be a cool way to release your inner thoughts on to other unwilling souls roaming the blogosphere. I will let this site be a test to screen my immediate emotions towards this ocean of the interweb and make decisions based on my time here.

So, enough about that - who am I? I am a student from Ireland. I enjoy programming (mostly in JavaScript and PHP), wall climbing, gaming (Xbox360 - I can’t afford the freak’n bad-assed PC I want - OK), listening to music and hanging with my friends.

Coding takes up a lot of the time I spend on the computer. There’s little that gives me the sense of achievement of writing a script in a mostly intuitively original fashion and producing a cool application that people can use and learn from. I think JavaScript is a really powerful language, and used so widely, that I do a lot of apps with it as the core language. Naturally it can’t all be done using it, so for the back-end I use PHP as I am most comfortable with it. Recently I tried to get into using ASP.net because I enjoyed it’s implementation with JavaScript but it proved difficult to write scripts how I wanted, knowing that if I just used PHP I could do it. So that venture slowly died.

If am not on the computer sighting some personal learning, I’ll be on the Xbox 360 (GamerTag: MB tancurrom). My favourite current games that get abuse the most include Guitar Hero, Gears Of War, Hexic and Bioshock. Im always up for a casual or hardcore match with people, so don’t hesitate to add me on live. My favourite platform is definately the PC with the genres FPS (CSS, Bioshock, CoD, DoD etc…) and RTS (C&C, SWEAW etc…) and loath MMORPG’s because I suck at them and have friends that don’t - you know who you are. Every so often I confience my mates to get down to our local LAN centre PONG for some craic.

Music. Well, theres not much I don’t like - pop and rap suck hard, but the rest is generally good
